This is my little corner of the internet, not particularly shiny or well organised but it'll have to do.
On these pages you'll find my galleries, mostly of places I have been as well as the odd image of things that have struck me as particularly funny. I'll also try and write up what I have been up to, no promises of it being a regular thing though.

Arse, had the diagnosis confirmed today, I am diabetic. Bummer. More tests are in the pipeline to determine which type I have as apparently I do not fit the profile for either type.
On a brighter note my root canal is sorted and I am very happy with how my tooth is now.

Today was part one of my root canal work, One of my lower molars had developed a whacking great hole in it and today was the day to sort it out.
Worst bit is the anaesthetic injection, after that takes hold its just noise, vibration and a funny taste in your mouth. My canals were cleaned out, one was totally dead and the other was clinging on just about. Once they were cleaned out they were rinsed out with a strong antibiotic solution and packed with a temporary filler which is going to be replaced with a permanent crown/cap in a months time.
Now I just have to wait to regain control of my tongue and for my lower lip to stop feeling like it belongs to someone else.
On a brighter note I completed my Karate Grade last night, just Combat Submission Wrestling to grade in now although the syllabus from Erik has not come through yet and presently only the big man himself grades you. He is coming over from the states at some point this year though.

A slightly belated new year to everyone that reads this, not that there are many of you I would guess.
Chief amongst my news is the rather unwelcome fact that I have been asked to go for some glucose tolerance tests at the local hospital. This is where a blood sample is taken and my glucose levels measured (after a 12 hr fast) then I drink a very sugary solution and have repeat samples taken over 3 hours. The purpose is to see whether or not I am becoming resistant to insulin which controls serum glucose levels, the precursor to full blown type 2 diabetes.
Obviously this is something I do not really want. Not a huge amount I can do about it but having already lost 3.5 stone and totally changed my eating habits etc over the last year I am optimistic that I should be ok.
Otherwise life goes on as usual, back training after a couple of weeks off over christmas and NY. Got my certificate for Keysi last night to add to my framed wall collection. Just need to grade in Karate now and I'll have the full set, at least until Erik Paulson comes over and dishes out CSW grades.
Got this week off work and plan to pop up to Sheffield to see Rys, Alex, Ben and co. Gallery expansion incoming!

Today was the last training session before Jan 2nd, It was pretty good, more games than serious training, the likes of dodgeball and bulldog, you know, proper games.

So… Most recently I have just returned from a short break to Prague, a wonderful city, there is enough varied architecture to keep just about anyone happy although Baroque artwork does wear a bit thin after a while. Best way to explore is on foot, you can take guided tours by open topped car or horse and carriage but these are pretty expensive and there is just something satisfying about covering the distance on your feet.
The Currency of choice is the Czech Crown, these work out to around 43 to £1 although different places give you different rates, my hotel was happy to offer 37. Robdogs. I stayed in Top Hotel, its about 30 mins from the centre by public transport (more on that later) and is good for the budget traveller, weighing in at £19 per night for a double\twin room its nice and inexpensive. I ate there on my first evening and the food is fine, you will pay slightly over the odds but my "Czech traditional platter" was tasty and the meal came to around £10 with a couple of beers and some Strudel to finish off. The staff are very friendly and the level of spoken english is very good
